The next big problem with sound here I think is a difference in sound level between upper bass and MF/HF.Upper bass seems louder (and ought to be). Would you help this electronics-handicapped guy to pad down the upper bass horn w...

Murat,
I was looking at your midbass horn design and I am wondering, how are you planning to time align that long midbass with the rest of the channels that seem to be time aligned. I mean, currently the midbass is physically 4.3m behind all o...
Thanks Romy.Good advise. I'll start by making the necessary changes to get all drivers aligned as suggested and will take it from there.Once again, really appreciate all your help.
Hi, there is processing delay in MiniDSP....

Yes , the idea of time delay machine is completely clear now . I made some experiments with analog and digital parts of the circuit , ewerything OK , and I need to assemble all the parts together , but now I am finishing the new hybrid class A amp - ...

(1)Interesting that you omitted in your response the “insultingly-extended HF”. I feel it one of the biggest problems as luck of “transients from distance” people foolishly substrates with a presents of bogusly-supplement...

Hi guys and Romy,I was inspired by Romy's recent videos on Dunlavy speakers, sound, and it got me thinking, about simple correctness of sound, when I seldom experience it. It happens at surprising moments sometimes, when you least expect it. This rea...
Ok, I do officially like this “Battle Road” hours. Upon many considerations (and there are 4 ways to implement the midbass horn in that room) I have inclined to my leading idea to do it elegant and with time alignment....

While I feel like the layout of an orchestra is a sort of sacred thing, I will never the less put forth the following question :
Is the layout of an orchestra time aligned?
Whenever I attend a performance where classical music is played by an orc...

This is very complex question and since you ask too generic question I would not feel that any answer is warranted. Generally you would never have the right decay in playback system as you will get 1.5 sec of reverberation time at 50Hz in 3000-5000 s...

Hey Romy,The Goto drivers (505TT, 100-8khz) and horns (S150, 150hz round exponential) finally arrived. I've only had them for a week so I can't say much about them besides they're not a simple drop in replacement of the previous 10" TAD woofer (200hz...

MochaMike, yes you are correct it would not be the “softness” but rather”liquidity”. Still what you are taking is applicable for the paper cone 4 to 15" drivers not compression drivers. Who knows how the compression drivers will react.
To the rest ...

Since the “no tilting rule” is one of the Macondo’s Axioms: (#2 - “All channels shell have strictly parallel axis”) then I would like to defend it.

I agree i have been making mistakes even costly ones. I had taken the biamping route with cary and krell on B&W , and that was the purpose of getting both the amps, to get the best out of both ,,,,,,it turned out mixing oil and water,,,,,the most...

To keep with Romy's spirit of sharing his work, I have attached a file of VER 1.0 of the DSET Power Supply. There are quite a few differences to Romy's published schematics but it is basically the same beast. You will notice a lot of power transfor...

Well, this kind of reminds me of an experiment I did with multiple speakers each with a varied delay built into the signal path to emulate room reflections. This allowed me to manipulate and move the image around. The end result is to min...

The room is beautiful, and I love the tree stump "rack" with the amps, it is clearly a work in progress, but they already put in the "Western Electric" badges on! It talks a lot about their priorities I guess! They have what seems to be a midrange ...

Yes, I agree they are different issues. However, quite a big however too...It all depends on where we believe 'reproduction' starts. We are very rarely simply reproducing the feed form one single microphone. Choices are made very early on in the reco...

Hi Romy
a good sound in a room does not depend only on the speaker chain, but essencially also of the room acoustics. Probably many of the Trio systems didn’t sound right just because of that…. I was at Holgers Home in Lautersbach back in 94. He ha...

Hi!
I just thought of something that could have some relation to this topic:
Take a horn with a driver, the driver produces a signal, the pressure wave will travel outwards more or less like a spherical wave front along the axis of the horn, think ...
